Infinite Joe

I like challenging books that make you think, and leave you happy that you did. Typically, I find character driven literary fiction the most satisfying, although I in no way think of myself as a serious literary critic.

The Laughing Policeman (Martin Beck #4) - Maj Sjöwall, Per Wahlöö I liked this book for the way it was written. I liked it for having miserable characters working in miserable weather. I liked the humor. I liked that the main character wasn't the one who solved the case.

However, at its heart, this is still just a short murder mystery, complete with the obligatory comatose guy who wakes up long enough to grunt a few words before he dies.

I would much rather add on a few hundred pages, and have it be written by Ann Rule.
